Pre-Operative Instructions

Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
- You may NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO EAT OR DRINK (including water) after midnight the evening prior to your surgery.
Please note: If the surgery has to be rescheduled because the patient
has not fasted after midnight, a late cancellation fee will be applied. - Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Patino prior to your surgical date for instructions.
- No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.
- Adults must be accompanied by a driver 18 yrs or older for transportation and care following surgery (Taxis, Uber or Limousine service are NOT permitted).
- The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
- Please wear comfortable clothing; short sleeve shirt or one that can easily be rolled up past the elbow; flat-heeled shoes; no boots, no flip flops.
- Do not wear nail polish or jewelry on the day of surgery.
- Dentures must be provided at the time of surgery.
- CELL PHONES are not permitted in the surgical area due to infection control.
- If you develop an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office as soon as possible prior to surgery.
